Gaeltacht and Galltacht Drive

'Gaeltacht' is a generic name for areas of Ireland where Irish is spoken as a first tongue. Galltacht refers to the land of the stranger or foreigner.

Dungarvan -  An Rinn - Helvic Head - An Sean Phobal - Ardmore - Clashmore - Aglish - Villierstown - Dromana Drive via Cappoquin - Dungarvan

• From the Square in Dungarvan, head south on the R675 towards O’Connell Street (R672).
• Turn right at Mitchell Street (R675).
• Turn left at R675.
• At the roundabout take the first exit onto the N25 and travel straight on for about 2km.
• Turn left at the R6874.
• Take a right at the first fork in the road.
• Take a left at the next fork in the road and travel straight on until you reach the village of An Rinn.
• From An Rinn head south towards the R674.
• Turn left at R674.
• From Helvick head, head west on the R674 towards An Rinn.
• Take a sharp left and travel on for bout 2km.
• Take a slight right. And travel on for about 1.6km.
• Turn left towards Mounfoun Estate.
• Continue straight onto Mounfoun Estate until you reach An Sean Phobal.
• From An Sean Phobal continue onto Knockroe Estate and travel on for about 5km.
• Turn left at R673 and travel on for about 2km.
• Turn left to stay on the R673 and travel on until you reach Ardmore.
• From Ardmore head north on Tower hill towards Main Street.
• Take a sharp left at College road (R673) and continue to follow the R673 for about 4.5km.
• Take a slight left at the N25.
• Turn right at R671 and travel on for about 5km until you reach Clashmore.
• From Main Street in Clashmore turn left at the top of the village and travel on for about 4km.
• Continue to travel on until you reach Aglish.
• When you reach Aglish turn left towards Villierstown.
• Travel on for about 6km until you reach Villierstown.
• From Villierstown head northwest
• Travel straight on for about 5km going through Dromana Bridge.
• Turn left upon entering the N72 to head towards the town of Cappoquin. 
• To continue the route to dungarvan turn right at the N72 and travel on for about 13.8km until you reach Dungarvan.
