West Waterford Driving Trail

With spellbinding views of the Knockmealdown Mountains, the West Waterford driving trail is a fantastical drive along some of County Waterford's most historic towns and villages. Highlights along the way include Dromana Bridge, Lismore Castle, The Vee Gap and many picturesque walks.

Dungarvan - Villierstown - Cappoquin - Lismore - Ballyduff - Clogheen - The Vee - Dungarvan

• From the Kilrush roundabout in Dungarvan head west on the N25.
• At the next roundabout take the third exit and continue for about 4.6km. 
• Turn left and continue to travel on for about 1.3km.
• Turn right towards the R671 and travel on for about 4.5km.
• Turn left at the R671.
• Continue on for about 3.7km until you reach Villierstown.
• From Villierstown head northwest through the tree-lined road to Cappoquin.
• You will pass through Dromana Bridge, a gothic style Hindu bridge.
• Turn left as you enter the N72 and continue on up to Cappoquin.
• From Cappoquin continue on the N72 towards Lismore for about 6.6km.
• Continue over the bridge to continue into the town of Lismore. To continue the route turn right over the bridge.
• Continue on the R666 for about 8.9km until you reach the village of Ballyduff.
• From Ballyduff head northwest on the R666.
• Turn right.
• Turn right again and travel on for about 3.5km.
• Turn right.
• Turn left and travel on for about 3.2km.
• Turn left again and continue to travel on for about 2.4km.
• Turn left.
• Turn left.
• Turn right.
• Turn right towards Riverview (R665) and travel on for about 6.5km.
• Turn slightly right at Riverview (R665) and continue to follow this road for about 7km.
• From Clogheen head northeast on Barrack Hill (R665).
• Turn right at Convent road (R668) and continue to follow the R668 for about 6km until you reach the Vee.   
• From the Vee head west on the R668 and travel for about 4.9km towards the R669.
• Turn right to stay on the R668 and travel on for a further 10km.
• Turn left at the N72 and travel straight on for about 19.5km.
• Turn slightly right at R672 and continue on for about 3km until you reach Dungarvan.
