River Blackwater

The section of the River Blackwater that flows through Cappoquin provides a good spot for coarse fishing in a picturesque area. Because the river is backed up by the tide, fishing is best when the tide is rising or falling. Roach and dace fish are found in abundance in this section of the river where the access is good.

The Blackwater River is a mixed fishery and coarse fishing is controlled by the Cappoquin Coarse Angling Club by arrangement of Lismore Estates. Anglers must note that fishing is restricted to the area between Glenribbon Bridge and the lay-by on the Youghal Road, along both banks.
