RECENT ECONOMIC NEWS FROM ERIE

• Lake Erie Biofuels, a $40 million manufacturing plant built on Lake Erie. Lake Erie Biofuels is expected to annually pump out 45 million gallons of biodiesel, an alternative fuel made from renewable resources such as soybean oil.  Lake Erie Biofuels is the first large-scale biodiesel plant in Pennsylvania.

• Presque Isle Downs & Casino, a $250 million complex opened in 2007 employing more than 750 people.

• The Bayfront Convention Center, a $44 million project contains a 28,800-square-foot Great Hall, A Grand Ballroom with seating for 1,000 guests and several meeting rooms.  An eight-story Sheraton Hotel is a attached via a skywalk bridge spanning the entrance to the marina.
